Tommy Doyle (born 3 March 1956 in Chicago, Illinois) was an Irish sportman who played Gaelic football with Annascaul GAA club and the Kerry senior football team in the 1970s and 1980s. He had a brief spell with John Mitchels in the early 90s. Doyle was an army private at one time, and so had the nickname "Private". He now works as a sales representative and lives in Cork.[1] His brother Johnny also played with Kerry and captained them to an All Ireland Junior Championship in 1983.

Playing career

Club

With Annascaul, Doyle won three County Intermediate Football Championships, one County Junior Championship, one County Novice Championship, one County Club Championship as well as West Kerry Championship and League Medals and a number of County Leagues. He also won two Senior County Championships with West Kerry in 1984 and 1985 and helped Annascaul to the Final in 1993.

Intercounty

Doyle was a member of one of the most successful teams ever to play Gaelic football. He won 7 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals with Kerry, and was captain of the team in 1986. He received three consecutive GAA All Stars Awards, in 1984, 1985 and 1986.[2] He also won two U21 All Irelands with Kerry as an All-Ireland Vocational Schools Championship. He won a Railway Cup medal with Munster in 1982.

Post career

In the years after retiring Doyle was a selector of the Kerry senior team. Doyle has acted as a trainer and selector with Annascaul, Douglas and Na Gaeil.
